Current, Dire Situation
The war in Syria is the largest humanitarian crisis in our life time. There are 7 million displaced Syrians within Syria, and an estimated 4 million people have sought refuge in the neighboring countries of Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Turkey and in Europe
Mafraq Living Conditions
Of the 4 million refugees that have left the country, a majority are trying to survive on the local economies. This has placed an enormous stress on cities’, like Mafraq, infrastructures. Populations are doubling and tripling resulting in economic crises for the Syrian refugees and Jordanian poor.
Why Mafraq Jordan?
Since the start of the war there has been an established relief effort in Mafraq, Jordan. This on-going effort provides a foundation of organizations and volunteers who are intimately familiar with the issues and want to partner with Jordan Project.
